Season Goal Surpassed

Over 3,000 Pounds of Food Donated
Spotlight on Hunger Campaign Exceeds Season Goal With First Show

When City Circle Acing Company set a goal to raise 3,000 pounds of food for the Coralville Food Pantry, our goal was to raise that amount during the entire 2017-2018 season. Audience members surpassed the the goal during the first show of the campaign. “It was incredible to see how many people brought not just one or two items, but full bags to donate,” says City Circle Board of Directors Member Hannah Green. “Even the cast got involved and brought in donations for this event. Our audience has shown us that theatre can be so much more than a night out.” We plan to make the Spotlight on Hunger campaign a year long campaign, but we will certainly need to re-evaluate their goal and challenge the community again for the three remaining shows in our season.

“The Spotlight on Hunger Campaign was a great way to give back to the Coralville community by doing something I love,” says Minsu Song, a cast member of both Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Chess in Concert. “The best part was showing all the young cast members in the children’s chorus just how much food people had donated.”

The Spotlight on Hunger Campaign will continue during our next show Chess in Concert February 9, 10, and 11th at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. Each audience member who brings a donation will be entered to win free tickets to an upcoming City Circle performance. Tickets can be purchased starting December 20th at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts or at
