Rehearsals will begin in early December, break for the holidays, and resume the third week in January 2020.

Evita the musical follows the life of a legendary woman, born Eva Duarte, and known by many names and for many reasons.  By the time of her death, she was considered by many in her native Argentina to be neigh unto sainthood–in fact, some called her “Santa Evita”.

In our production, which will feature all of the music and dialogue from the show in a concert presentation with full orchestra on stage, we wish to highlight the many facets of Eva Perón by casting several actresses to play Evita over the course of her life.  We will be casting “opera style” focusing on the match of the voice to the song and the strength of the acting choices over physical type, age, and ethnicity.  We are hoping to see a wide range of women with the talent and presence to illuminate this amazing woman’s life.

Because we are dividing the role, rehearsals will be less time-consuming on each woman.  Again, we are hoping this removes barriers to the many supremely talented but in-demand singing actors in our area.

Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evita_(musical)#Character_roles for information about characters in the play and the songs they sing.

Women interested in auditioning for Eva should prepare a one minute cutting of a song from the show.  We may ask to hear more from the same song.  Please chose the song from the show you feel is best suited to your skills.  Do not concern yourself with whether or not we may have heard other people perform the same song.  We love this musical and do not intend to be soon bored with its contents.

Men, and there are many in the show, should come with a one minute cutting of any song from any Andrew Lloyd Webber show they choose, including Evita.  It is unlikely we will be double casting the male roles.

There are many ensemble parts in the show, including featured dancers.  If you are interested in a dance-only part, please indicate so when contacting us.  Otherwise, those interested in Ensemble may choose any song from any Andrew Lloyd Webber show OR from any musical theater show written after 1970.

Please bring sheet music of your song in the correct key.  An accompanist will be provided.
